The success of the inaugural round of the Africa Photographic Awards has been nothing short of astonishing. When this African celebration of photography closed for entries on 31 March 2010, we where overwhelmed by the unexpectedly high number of entries that we have received from around the world.
 
We want to thank and extend our congratulations to the thousands of photographers for their entries of which the majority is of outstanding quality and reflect true brilliance in technical ability and artistic flair. The judges have got their work cut out for them.
 
To reward the worthy winners for their outstanding skill, we will be presenting 3 Million Rand worth of prizes at a befitting gala event on the 12^th of August at Montecasino. Come join South Africa’s most prominent photographers, media and celebrities for a cocktail in the foyer while viewing a showcase of the best entries received. Official proceedings will commence at 19:00 and include a cocktail dinner with a cash bar and world-class entertainment as provided by the evening’s MC Gavin Sharples that will share the stage with artists like Jamali. Category winners will be awarded their prizes during the course of the evening.
 
The judges are in the final stage of judging and all finalists will be contacted shortly.
 
Exciting news about next year’s competition will be announced in the press during the month of June.
